I spoke to Rubina ma’am (founder and head chef at heavenly Desert) a few days before, we had a great conversation about her journey from an engineer to a full-time baker and then to an entrepreneur. I was just in awe of her attitude towards learning and her determination to work. She was kind and very insightful. We spoke about how she has learnt baking and how I can improve my skills. she shared about different workshops I can attend to gain more knowledge and a few tips about baking and business that she learnt from her experience. She kindly invited me to meet her in person and visit her kitchen. I also got a mentor who can help me out in my journey. yayyyy!!!!

The ambiance was so good!! The cool pastel colors were very inviting and the old-school style of writing the menu on a blackboard, cute drawings, and a few board games, and books, it’s the best place to chill and relax with friends. Rubina warmly welcomed me and walked me through the kitchen. The kitchen was well-organized and clean. All the 6 employees were very friendly and energetic. They were talking to each other, roasting each other, and singing songs, it made the kitchen alive. Most of their employees don’t have any baking background, Rubina ma’am taught them.
There were lots of orders that day, so we had a good time observing them work. Each baker had their style and pace of work. They were teaching each other and making wonders in the kitchen. I could sense a great expertise in Rubina Ma’am’s work. I learned how to use an airbrush, work with fondant, make rice paper sail, and a few icing tips. I also got exposure to different tools. They had lotssss of tools. She also was mentions few mistakes she did or things she wish to improve, this gave a new perspective of business to baking. We had great time sharing different stories.
Everything is going well but I noticed all the operations weren’t systematic, when I mentioned them to Rubina Ma’am she said they are working on it currently like they recently hired a marketing team and planning to build things slowly. I tasted their chocolate truffle cake and chicken puff, they tasted yum! The deserts are sold at very reasonable prices. Overall i had a great exposure. Thankyou Rubina ma’am for answering all the questions very patiently.
