Planning for Challenge

I believe many of you have planned your days, weeks, or even months using different tools or methods. We all know that planning helps us get things done. Some people might say, “I’m not a planner,” but after reading this, you might start to see the value in planning.

When people claim they don’t like to plan, I wonder if they really don’t plan at all or if they just don’t realize how their thoughts help them organize their tasks. Those who say they are “go with the flow” types often have a broader view of how they work, but if we look closely, they also plan in their own way.

Now that we understand everyone does some form of planning, have you ever thought about adding certain limits or challenges to your planning? This might sound confusing, but let me explain with an example from a planning session we had at Aarohi. We usually meet on Mondays to start the week, and we decided to add challenges to our planning. Here’s how everyone contributed:

  • Namrata: Travel with children Challenge:
    Suggestions: Take small trips – an hour, day trip. Take a look at resources / help 
  • Ansh: Challenge: Increase weight / stop eating junk food             
    Suggestions: do more physical activity.
    Understand the need for Junk food and then take action.
    Try making junk food at home (so it’s a bit healthy) Like Garlic bread, you can take recipe from Preeti  
  • Rohit: Challenge: Fitness everyday
    Suggestions: Have a goal of why you want to be fit.
    Consciously try to wake up early, make up your mind.
    Do fitness that you enjoy: Dance, something interesting and new, a variety of things. Understand your body , what kind of fitness it needs.
    Follow a challenge/competition 
  • Saparna Challenge: Reading books and handwriting
    Suggestions: Join Reading Club every week.
    Explore things you like and then read about them.
    Read only one page everyday.
    Read along with someone.
    Ask someone to read it for you. 
  • Srijani Challenge: Posting 3 reels per week
    Suggestions: Do it with someone. 
    Dont eat till you post a reel.
    Dedicate a day for reels only.
    Treat yourself with something as you meet your challenge .Re-work on your targets.
    Take up a challenge / compete with someone 
  • Aparna: Challenge: Documentation. Finding it hard to do Documentation
    Suggestions: Remind yourself of why you want to do it .
    Think of it as recording things you like doing Do it with someone. Find the value in doing the documentation 
  • Nivedita Challenge: Pot making
    Suggestion: Plan with somebody.
    Bring it in the planning circle.
    Start with something small.
