We need to show to the youth that colleges, degrees and certificates are not the only way to build a successful professional life.
This system of exams and marks and studies suits some and it’s good for them. Let them celebrate their achievements.
For the rest of us, who do not do well in exams or are not interested in studies – we can eschew colleges and jump directly into doing work in the domains that interest us and learn by doing actual industry work.
Consider CoVersity (for 13-21 year old youth) wherein youth get together in a cohort to support each other. Each deep dives into a domain of their choice & does actual industry work to develop skillsets and experience.
After 6-12 months – they continue or switch to another industry and so on till they find what they truly enjoy and then by building their portfolio in that field they become work certified. There is qualification required to enter, nor any exams to give – one automatically becomes industry ready in a few years.
So not getting good marks in board exams can be a great news – since now youth can tell their parents, Allow me to build myself, my way!
