This week was full of travel and new experiences for me. Monday was a special day with my mom — just the two of us. We went from shop to shop hunting for a dress for me. While looking at clothes, I was also quietly observing each shop’s marketing strategy. Something interesting stood out — almost every store had boards saying “₹499” in big bold letters, but in a tiny corner, almost unreadable, it said “starting from.” A clever trick to pull customers in!
Tuesday was a family adventure on the toy train to Ooty and back. I got to know that UNESCO has declared it a heritage site. The train moved so slowly that it felt like time had slowed down too, but that made it perfect for enjoying the scenery and family conversations. In Mettupalayam, we visited the railway museum, where one thing really caught my attention — a bed cot made entirely of springs. Later that day, back at home, we decided to try pedal boating in our own backyard pond. Feeling the gentle splash of water and the slow movement of the boat made it a surprisingly peaceful and fun experience.
The next day, I travelled to campus on the Vande Bharat Express. Sitting there, I couldn’t help comparing it to the toy train — one was slow and nostalgic, the other sleek and super fast. Both had their own charm. On the way, I also learnt a clever new trick to quickly calculate multiplication tables — a small discovery that felt quite exciting.
Looking back, this week felt like a mix of observation, learning, family time, and travelling across very different kinds of journeys.
