This story began with a need to drive daily to get a license in a foreign country – she found a course in cake decoration where she could drive daily. She learned a few basic techniques of decoration and started experimenting. She baked her first cake for her friend’s child’s bday and discovered her creative side and rest is history. She shared the different stories behind the making of different kinds of cake, her favorite, her expertise, and her passion.
What one wants – a kind of interacting and understanding the needs of the clients is important for her – she visualizes, uses a lot of different resources, gets inspiration from various experiences and all put together creates “Kumar’s Kake”.
Well, the session was not only about baking but to understand the journey of her profession. She ended the session with “Love what you love doing, find people who love what you love”. Her story inspired a few of us to bake and experiment!
One hour after Shivani’s inspiration – each one started their baking effort – Initially, some wanted to bake with others “fear of failure”. Invited each one to bake their own cake to face that failure and experience own efforts, trying and discovering their own self. To their own surprise, most cakes/cookies came out well! Some hiccups of burning, more salt, more sugar … but the experience was their own. Most were first-time bakers!

Each one used the internet for only the recipe. Now if you observe the skills each used, these were not acquired in a day – many places they have observed, tried, saw, heard and all together applied in baking.
