It was an intense workshop with Agni Band, people dedicated to bringing ParaiAttam to the people.

Parai Attam is a folk dance in Tamil Culturein which folks beat Parai (instrument) and dance (attam) to its rhythm.

First day, the first 15 minutes, I wanted to run away, as I thought I would not be able to, it looked very difficult. As the day unfolded, I was playing with joy by the end of the day and fell in love by the end of the two days workshop.
People’s energy made a lot of difference to me – some of them were very skilled, but they continued practicing and practicing – I got inspired to practice more!
I got glimpses of performance art, Practice, Practice, and Practice!
Few kids from the Sri Gurukulum school joined us in the workshop, their energy was contagious – even when they got scolding from the trainer for not listening to the instruction, all they did was more PRACTICE!

The workshop allowed me to understand this folk art by learning about it, they talked about various traditions associated with Parai. It was not only about playing an instrument and dancing to the beats but it was also about understanding the culture.
Thank you Agni team for making it so simple, easy, energetic and doable for us.
