Need to write

We write and we write in many forms. This led to having a session with Sangeetha to master our writing.

Five step writing process with Sangeetha, she began with asking a question ‘Why do we need to write?’ She shared “Ever wondered writings comes to us in various forms – Newspaper, book, blogs, instructions, advertisements and so on.Just like any other language, writing also has few rules. Here are five steps to write”.

She shared five steps process

Step One – Pre-writing process – what are you planning to write ( topic), the purpose ( to inform, share opinion, to convince, etc), the length of the writing, and who are you talking to.Read to know more about a topic to be able to write. Make a chart or a table and organize your ideas. Whether you write or record or make a video but the pre-writing process remains same. This process is about organizing thinking.

The second step is DRAFTING. Draft starts with outlining. So now the question is what is an outline? Here are some inputs

  • Start with an introduction – a specific topic you would like to talk (write).
  • Paragraph – Each thought can be put in different paragraphs. A paragraph is a group of sentences which are related.
  • Perspective – Include different perspectives – specially yours!
  • Conclusion – End with some closing thought(s).

Step Three – Revise. Check for missing links to make it stronger.

Step four – Proofreading to fix mistakes – spelling, grammar, punctuation, and typo.

Step Five – Publish.

All simply learn from whomsoever we can.Imagineaarohi where there are no tests and exams – because we believe that children can assess themselves, can reflect on this work on an ongoing basis. Also because children do not need to learn for some external objective (marks) but for their own love for learning.
