Love

Our image of love, teenage and romantic relationships is heavily loaded by external influences. Media, movies, songs, advertisements, society, parents and friends all play a role in shaping our understanding of relationships. This break week spends time with kids to explore love and relationships beyond girl and boy. If a girl and boy work together in the community, rumors and gossip flies. If a girl and boy sit next to each other in session smiles and giggles are exchanged. Who likes who is the question to ask each other and giggle about it. At the campus, we noticed an increasing distraction due to the relationship and the gossip around the topic.

Is crush, love, etc a teenage problem “these teenagers?” or it’s a universal age problem? The problem is not of age, not hormones, but the problem of me not loving myself, I rarely heard“I have a crush on myself”. Do we have that sensation inside when we fall in love with SELF – is the sensation of crush is borrowed from media “that first sight, you fill my life, you are the love of my life, sleepless nights…”?“

ARE YOU IN LOVE?” was the question and different reactions to this question were
WHAT?
NEVER?
NOT YET?
YES?
ME?
I DON’T KNOW?
YA, BUT..?

Is love only boy and girl?
Is love also falling in with myself?
One child said, “none loves me?” I said, “so true, even you don’t love yourself?” I had a long conversation with him on love, loving self, being available for self, being with self – he at the end took a deep breath and said: “I am feeling strange feeling inside me – I want to love myself”. I said, “ya! It’s no so early to fall in love, it’s your age, go ahead and fall in love with yourself and then you will not need anyone else to love you – you are SUFFICIENT for yourself”. All other love is a bonus!

Love has become such a limited edition – it is mostly associated with girl or boy. For some it is hype, for some, it is an embarrassment, for some it is desire, for some, it is a topic to gossip…

Here is my story of love

When I was 4years old, I asked my teacher “I am in love”. She said, “it’s too early for you, this is not the age”. I didn’t say I am in love with colors

When I was 12 years old I told my mother She said, “it’s too early for you, this is not the age”. I didn’t say I am in love with patterns

When I was 18 years old, I told my friend. She said, “it’s too early for you, this is not the age”. I didn’t say I am in love with creating.

I fell in love so early with compositions, but I held myself and I thought “it’s too early to fall in love”.
