Language through senses
Vinay from “Gift-able”joined to share about Sign language and Braille. The session started with watching national anthem in sign language – this set the stage for sign language. Often when I used to see people using their hands to communicate or see books on sign language, it used to look difficult to acquire this language. Vinay made it simple for us – we not only learned the alphabets but few words too. This was just the beginning of breaking our own barriers for this new language. Experiencing the world of blind to understand the language of Braille with Vinay from Giftabled.
Just learning a new language helped us to know the world of deaf – using your hands, moving fingers to communicate and need a lot more strength in hands to communicate :). The session on Braille began with becoming blind and experiencing their world through role play. Some of us realized that the our fingertip have lost sense of touch – an important sense for us to read this language. Thank you Prarthana and Vinay for sharing.
