Reflection and self-assessment are important for everyone, but they are especially crucial for Open Learners. Educational reformer John Dewey once said, “We do not learn by experience… We learn by reflecting on experience.” This means that just having experiences isn’t enough; we need to think about them to truly learn from them.
By reflecting, we can understand how we work, what we avoid, where we need to improve, how differently we can do the same activity and much more. These insights help us improve ourselves and our actions to achieve our goals.
At the Aarohi Community, we regularly practice reflection and self-assessment in a group setting. This shows us how everyone does it differently, its importance in our lives, and how it adds value to us along with opening up new avenues for others to do their reflections. The Community enhances the benefits and takes them to the next level.
