When we expect fishes to climb trees…
Schools and Colleges continue to be a boon, a gateway to the life of dreams for many. However, with their one-size-fits-all grading approach, they also continue to be a nightmare for many students.
We estimate about 40% students have talents and passions not encouraged by the conventional curriculum, they learn hands-on and non-linearly and some of them have special gifts or needs.
There is an urgent and pressing need to offer these students an education which is child-centered and brings to them the wide range of possibilities that our global world offers.
Aarohi’s Mission
Aarohi started in 2008 to offer students the opportunity to discover what they do best, where their interests and talents lie and how they can chart professional journeys in their aspired domains.
In the last 18 years, Aarohi has impacted over 6000 children by nurturing their interests and providing a joyous, child-centered learning experience.
Aarohi offers for children of all ages till 21 years,
- One to One mentoring
- Child Centered Curriculum
- Research based learning methods & processes
- Group Work & Projects
Our belief in child-led learning is rooted in the transformative journeys we’ve witnessed, where children, through hands-on exploration and sustained efforts of personalized as well as collective guidance, discover their potential. Many have pursued careers outside the conventional college route, through mentorship and real-world industry experience.
Aarohi started initially at Bangalore and since last 12 years, welcomes students to co-live and co-create learning as a community in its natural campus in a village near Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
Aarohi Needs
Over the last 18 years, we have developed a residential campus and the processes, tools, techniques and pedagogy required to foster intense child-centered education. Currently, infrastructure and campus op-costs are funded by member contributions.
Aarohi needs funds in 2025 to support remuneration for its current team of 6 full-time dedicated mentors.
For the future, as our operations grow, we will recalibrate and project our funding needs accordingly.
To continue with our efforts in 2025, Aarohi needs a funding support of
₹36 Lakhs
Aarohi’s Magical Journey
(estd. 2008)
Our co-founders, Aditi & Ratnesh started with a child-led learning centre called ‘Genie Kids’ in 1999, primarily working with children under 7 years of age.
- In 2003, IBM contributed ₹18L as funds towards building the centre in Bangalore
Having done intense work over a decade, our founders established Aarohi in 2008, an open learning community with child-led learning at the core of its existence.
- Being completely enamored by Aarohi’s vision, one of the student’s grandfather generously donated a 5 acre land to Aarohi Trust, for setting up the campus
- The campus infrastructure was set up through crowdfunding, raising more than ₹33 Lakhs
Over the years, Aarohi owes its very existence to the valuable contributions of countless well-wishers who see the value in our work and support us wholeheartedly.
