Anyone coming to the campus and joining us for any duration is nothing but an opportunity interacting with more children/adults and creating a space of mutual learning. No plans, no activities, no classes.
It’s just the same mantra –
No CURRICULUM – because we believe that children can decide what they want to learn, how much they want to learn. So children effectively choose what they want to do or learn from whatever is worth doing or learning in this world. n
NO TEACHING – because we believe that children can decide how they want to learn – on their own, with each other and from various resources, etc. We are there to guide them, where they need us.
NO CLASSES – because we believe that when children learn and teach each other – there is no need to separate them based on ages. All simply learn from whomsoever we can.
We are often asked, “you are creating a different world for the kids at Aarohi, how will they adjust to the real world?” Well, the real world is all around us. We experienced in many different ways and one of the ways we meet life on campus is the guest visiting Aarohi. They come because they are curious, they come because we love them. They come because the community welcomes them. They come because they are part of us.
Every time a visitor (any age) comes to the campus there is a need to readjust ourselves. Each visitor brings a new dynamics to the campus and each dynamic allows us to face the life in its real form. And it’s not easy to welcome visitors every day (almost). Every visitor at the campus is welcomed by one of the children who enthusiastically takes the responsibility. Campus tour needs a lot of patience and answering and explaining each question.
The best is “acceptance” when even adults are not able to cope up with the work one needs to do at the campus. Kids by experience have started accepting that “it takes time to understand a new place”.
A life education, where learning happens because children want to learn from their life – for their life.
