One child in the group during the contact point, never responded to anything asked. The earlier contact point with him, I had asked him about goal setting and I explained to him about “goal setting”, gave him examples of how to work on some topics.
Today I was with this same child for the contact point. The child responded the same ways today too. I asked him, can you share your understanding about what happens at the contact point. He replied, “I share my observation and you type it for me”. The the child broke into complete silence and did not respond to me in ways. I wanted to connect with the child.
I then told the child, I want to just chat with you. We are not having contact point about your work. Can we. The child responded with a “SMILE”. I started with sharing what all I like to do, and I asked him what all he like to do, at home and outside. He was answering to me. We conversed for five-ten minutes and we broke. The child told me I will work on my topic and then come for the contact point. I nodded my head with a yes.
After sometime, I was calling out the names of few children, who were yet to come for the contact point. I some how missed this child’s name. Immediately this child, called me and told, aunty, I too have to come for the contact point.
I asked you do you want to do it now. He said, yes and came to me.
The moment he came to me, I gave a smile and asked him, How do you feel now, coming for the contact point. I am feeling nice now.
And he started to share, how all he had worked on his topic and writing objective.
I ENJOYED MY CONTACT POINT WITH THE CHILD AND SHARED THE SAME TO THE CHILD. HE GAVE A SMILE AND WALKED OFF.
