Carpentry Festival with Murli. No occasion…just like that!
It was all about creating magic with scrap wood, and resources. Anything Murli saw, he had an idea to convert it into something usable – no boundaries of “this is not possible”. Everything was possible and that was magical!
With waste strips of wood, he encouraged, kids to create bookshelves, toys stand, trays, step ladder, dominos…and JOY OF DOING. Many kids got the confidence that “I CAN”. It was not only about my creation but also it was about creation all around me with different people who created the environment. And each idea was encouraged by Murli with excitement and more ideas.
His tip to all children, “When you are doing something, be available to that work 100% – then work will happen, and will joy”.
Doing is a complex process; it involves observing, trying, failing and perhaps succeeding. It invariably generates peer interaction. It requires the application of a complex set of thinking skills. It is non-linear and often the learning is not obvious but deep.
