Today was all about getting into the details<\/em>\u2014those tiny but crucial decisions that shape the whole experience of a structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of my work on Galactica<\/strong>, the treehouse-inspired structure I\u2019m building, I spent the day experimenting with the measurement between two horizontal logs<\/strong>\u2014logs that will be part of the walkable wooden roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may sound simple, but it got me thinking deeply about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comfort vs. Safety:<\/strong> How much space can I leave so that people can comfortably climb and walk without feeling unstable?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Material Behavior:<\/strong> Different woods behave differently under weight. I had to test and visualize how much each log might bend or shift depending on spacing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Body Movement:<\/strong> I even tried physically stepping across different gaps to feel it out\u2014turns out, experience is the best guide!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

Practical prototyping is more powerful than guesswork or just math.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
User experience matters\u2014even in construction! It\u2019s not just about \u201cwhat works,\u201d but \u201cwhat feels right.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes, simple questions like \u201cHow far apart should these be?\u201d lead to deeper learning about balance, load, and how humans interact with spaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
It was one of those days where I didn\u2019t finish with a final answer\u2014but I walked away with more clarity, better questions, and a few funny slips while testing the log gaps. \ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n\n\n\n
