About my Passion

Why mud construction

First and foremost, mud construction aligns perfectly with my commitment to eco-friendly practices. The process involves using natural, locally-sourced materials, reducing the environmental impact associated with conventional construction methods. It’s heartening to know that I’m contributing to sustainable living by choosing a building material that doesn’t harm the Earth.

Moreover, mud construction allows me to showcase my artistic skills. The versatility of mud as a medium offers a canvas for creativity. Whether it’s crafting intricate patterns, experimenting with textures, or designing unique structures, I find that mud provides a wonderful outlet for my artistic expression.

Beyond the artistic aspect, mud construction is deeply rooted in fulfilling basic human needs. Building with mud not only provides shelter but also connects me to the fundamental essence of construction. It’s a reminder that, at its core, building is about creating spaces that fulfill our most basic requirements in harmony with nature.

I was introduced to the world of mud construction during a transformative 7-day workshop in Kerala. The experience was eye-opening, exposing me to the beauty and potential of this age-old technique. Subsequently, I delved deeper into this field by undertaking a 3-month internship, where I had the privilege of learning various construction techniques, sustainable practices, and gaining insights into the cultural history associated with mud architecture.

What I love most about mud construction is that it’s hands-on work. There’s a tangible connection to the process – feeling the mud, shaping it, and witnessing the transformation from raw material to a functional structure. This tactile engagement resonates with my love for hands-on work, making each project a fulfilling and enriching experience.

In conclusion, my journey with mud construction has been incredibly rewarding. It’s not just a construction method for me; it’s a lifestyle choice that reflects my values, allows me to express my creativity, and connects me with the timeless tradition of building with the earth.
