Sona’s (Fatmia akka’s cow) new shelter is in progress.
It began with visits to nearby villages and surveying different mud houses. Apaprt from this our training included talking to few people whohave worked with Mud (Cob) construction. We also saw some amazing design of cob houses on internet.
All of us at campus spend one hour daily on making the cob mud house. We soak the mud previous evening, and then in morning we knead it by dancing in it. Then we collectstones from our rocky campus. We stack one layer of stones, fill it up with mud-dough. We make only one layer everyday – as it needs to dry and firm up before we cna out the next layer. The walls have reached up to 3feet. This is our first experience with mud (cob) construction.
Walls reached 3feet height and soon it was time to make roof – we debated, pondered, explored and experimented with stitching waste plastic to make roof – Sona has occupied her home – roof work is in progress.
