Purpose of Education
We hear this about this fear "I am scared of children (who are in alternate system) feeling they are superior to others .... "
We feel a scare only when we are expecting a RESULT. If there is no expectation - there is no fear. The other thought is - Is education supposed to deliver on predefined outcomes - results? If yes then how is it education - then it is programing / conditioning the children to become what we want them to.
One perspective (very different from conventional viewpoint) is that education is not about any pre defined results - rather offering of many exposures to the child's awareness - and then the child makes sense out of these to create his or her own life. In any case - if we look back at the last two thousand years of human existence - any kind of education / religion / philosophy / culture - whatsoever - has not prevented division, disparity, prejudice, etc in our society.
The ills of our society cannot be eliminated by a certain kind of education or religion etc. To take this further - perhaps there are no ills - the good and the bad, are to coexist. It is the essential joy of each individual's journey to figure out how they want to live ...Which to me means we do not have to create a program / script / formula of life for the child rather we bring to child loads of varied exposure and enough opportunities for him or her to reflect on each of these experiences and then use these to create his or her values, beliefs and philosophy - which itself is an ongoing journey... Education has somewhere caught up with meaning confined to only knowledge, certificates, ability to lead life. Hence fear, success, failure, goal, achievement are main thoughts. If we consider education as Learning in every step of our life and it's lifelong process in all fields that I interact, then I am only learning, experiencing, chuurning with all my exposures in day to day life. It's neither defined nor ending process.
