Last two weeks we faced death and loss – two of our rabbits died. One died due to disease and another one was hunted by our pet dog.

Rabbits brought joy for some kids – kids nurtured them, They mothered them – gave bath, made shelter, gave food, cleaned their shelter, protected them from our pets, played with them. They connected with them. When rabbits died – kids came together and arranged for a funeral with love and care – dug the ditch, collected some flowers and also debated where to put candles.

Some kids were sad, some had anger (dog who hunted), some were hopeful, some voiced concern – one said “we need to know more about Rabbits, what do they eat, how to protect them, and then bring another one”. Each failure and loss is hope for learning ahead.
